I'll be honest, I don't think it's as bad as it looks.

Mrs. Clinton is a hawk when it comes to war matters. She would have enforced American control of Europe and heightened the stakes in the Middle East. Back in 2013 she would have allowed a US war against Assad. Try to imagine what that would have meant. And try to imagine how she would have reacted, if she had been elected and she had actually kept raising tensions with Russia and Russia had not backed out of Syria - which Russia simply won't do anyway.

Let's look at things as they are. The US are trying to maintain the status quo. Putin is trying to change it, which gives him the advantage, and he probably is the best strategist in the world right now. While he has been exceptionally good at finding the West's weak points and use them at his advantage (Wikileaks, which used to be an instrument to the betterment of democracy, is now his pet), he would also keep defending and reacting to American encroachment wherever possible, and he would not back down, because he already has raised the stakes to the highest point. Backing down would mean losing his face and his power in Russia, and he's not going to do that.

This is what Clinton hasn't understood: the Americans are scared of Russia. They prefer a non-confrontational random guy to a warmongering expert, of which they have been tired for the longest time anyway: Clinton already lost the presidential race eight years ago, and she has been in politics at the federal level for thirty years (and has somehow remained a bad speaker).

And, honestly? I think they are right. They probably have killed their own economy, but the rest of the world might benefit from the situation, assuming Europe doesn't break up, which America can't stop anyway.

There are other reasons why Trump has been elected, the main being a massive misunderstanding of what "minority" means by the liberals who are supposed to fight for minorities, but the most important one is that the US could choose between Trump and an alternative that really wasn't an alternative.

I think that that's exactly the point. Why did Berlusconi win and win for so long? Because there was no other believable conservative party. The DC had just been swallowed and destroyed by legal proceedings, which meant that his opponents were a bunch of old school, pro-Soviet communists (because Italy was the only important country in the Western World that had a strong communist party during the Cold War) and the right wing extremists.
Yes, the Soviet union was over and the communists tried to reinvent themselves as something else, but the voters of course did not forget about their past. As a result, Berlusconi was the only moderate that centre and right wing voters could vote. So he got in and filled the vacuum. And he staid there, because he was a master communicator.

Which Trump also is. And what he did was filling a vacuum which had been created by a political system that has alienated voters everywhere in the Western World. It's a big thing, a reaction to many elements, a request of national independence, but also a fear of not having any control any more on what the nation does. It's the People against the State, and I can't believe that something of this proportion is only the work of unhappy drunkards.

By the way, I have a wound in my mouth, so whenever I eat I drink alcoholics to numb the pain. It can be that I simply am drunk.

And maybe I am wrong about Trump, and in six months we'll all be dead - and I wonder who'll be laughing.
